Real Madrid make €90 million rated star exit clear after CWC exit

Rodrygo might find it hard to start for Real Madrid

Real Madrid faced difficulty against PSG, losing their FIFA Club World Cup semifinal 4-0. This poor showing exposed defensive frailties and issues in the final third for manager Xabi Alonso. One notable point was forward Rodrygo Goes remaining on the bench.

Rodrygo’s absence against PSG was surprising given the scoreline. Coach Xabi Alonso defended his choice, stating it was a “tactical choice” and they “needed something different today.” He added that the match “wasn’t about planning the future.”

According to a report from MARCA, Real Madrid has clearly communicated Rodrygo’s current standing and future prospects under the manager. A departure from the club is anticipated and could take place within the coming weeks.

Though Rodrygo started Alonso’s first match, his role quickly diminished. He subsequently spent time on the bench, playing only 13 minutes across the competition’s knockout rounds.

With Alonso favouring a two-player attack and other forwards like Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr, and Gonzalo Garcia potentially ahead of him, Rodrygo is unlikely to feature prominently.

The player has gained attention from clubs in England’s Premier League. Both Arsenal and Chelsea are said to be interested parties, having explored the possibility of signing him. Real Madrid is open to selling Rodrygo and discussions regarding his transfer could begin soon, with the club aiming for a substantial profit.
