Benzema and Joselu praise 'unbelievable' Real Madrid prodigy

Spain manager Luis de la Fuente addressed recent calls for Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Garcia to join the national team. The 21-year-old’s strong performances in the FIFA Club World Cup sparked excitement among fans and media, leading to public campaigns for his senior squad inclusion.

De la Fuente suggested patience regarding Gonzalo Garcia’s potential call-up. He used a local saying, noting the player “still has a lot of military work to do,” implying much more development is needed.

The coach hopes for more young players like Gonzalo, mentioning Cubarsi and Huijsens, who could potentially bypass the U21 level to debut directly for the senior side, but stressed Garcia still needs to learn.

The manager cautioned against reacting solely to a temporary surge in form. De la Fuente stated, “You can’t be led by a hot streak,” highlighting that Garcia has not yet played significantly in La Liga.

While acknowledging his talent and encouraging his continued hard work, the manager emphasized that earning a place in the national team requires proving oneself consistently among fantastic, high-level players with established careers.
