Arsenal slaps €100M tag on key player as Real Madrid renews interest

William Saliba

Real Madrid’s long-standing pursuit of Arsenal defender William Saliba has recently resurfaced, a report from Mundo Deportivo indicates. However, the Spanish giants face a significant financial hurdle. Arsenal has set a clear price tag, making any immediate transfer complicated for the French star.

Arsenal is firm on keeping their star French defender, William Saliba. The club will not consider offers below €100 million for him. Manager Mikel Arteta considers Saliba “untouchable” due to his consistent performances and strong leadership on the field.

Saliba is currently under contract until 2027. To further secure his future, Arsenal is actively working to extend his deal until 2032. This move aims to prevent any potential exit, highlighting his importance as one of the Premier League’s most valuable players.

Real Madrid has been monitoring Saliba for some time. While they are reportedly contemplating a bid this summer, meeting Arsenal’s €100 million valuation appears unlikely. The club’s initial plan was to wait until 2026, when Saliba would have only one year left on his contract, to potentially secure a more feasible deal.

However, Arsenal’s push for a new long-term agreement complicates this strategy. Real Madrid has already spent over €150 million this summer on four new players: Alvaro Carreras, Dean Huijsen, Franco Mastantuono, and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

This significant spending makes another major outlay less probable. A summer transfer to Madrid is highly improbable unless Saliba himself pushes for a move or declines a new Arsenal deal.
