Real Madrid is reportedly shifting focus back towards Bayer Leverkusen defender Alejandro Grimaldo. This comes as the Spanish giants continue their search for a new left-back option for the squad. Recent developments in the transfer market are influencing their strategy.

The club has been actively seeking reinforcements for the left side of their defence. For several weeks, their primary target has been Álvaro Carreras, a 22-year-old playing for Benfica.

However, striking a deal for Carreras has proven challenging. Benfica has maintained significant demands for the player, and so far, no agreement has been reached between the clubs. Patience appears to be wearing thin at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium regarding this situation.

According to reports from La SER on Thursday, Real Madrid is now considering alternative players for the left-back position. Alejandro Grimaldo has re-emerged as a potential target for the team.

Grimaldo reportedly feels confident that Xabi Alonso, his former coach at Bayer Leverkusen, would call him if the attempt to sign Carreras falls through. As the transfer for Carreras looks increasingly uncertain, the possibility of Real Madrid pursuing Grimaldo seems to be growing.
