A crucial defender for Real Madrid is expected to be cleared to play in the club’s upcoming match at the Club World Cup. This return would come sooner than initially anticipated for the player who has been sidelined by injury.
According to reports from Marca, the player in question is German international Antonio Rüdiger. He underwent surgery back in April due to a persistent chronic knee issue that had affected him throughout the 2024/25 season.
The initial understanding following the procedure was that the former Chelsea defender would likely not return to competitive action until the next campaign. It was thought he would use the summer period for a complete recovery from the knee problem.

However, the latest information suggests Rüdiger could be back on the pitch much earlier. He watched Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw against Al-Hilal on Wednesday from the sidelines. He is now hopeful of featuring in the second Club World Cup group stage fixture on Sunday against Pachuca.
