Real Betis has clarified its position regarding a potential return for midfielder Dani Ceballos. According to a report from Fichajes, the La Liga club will only consider bringing the Real Madrid player back if he arrives on a free transfer. This clear stance sets the stage for any possible deal.
Signing Ceballos depends heavily on specific financial terms. Real Betis expects Real Madrid to release the player for free. Additionally, the club anticipates Ceballos would agree to a significant pay cut, estimated at nearly 50%, to align with their existing wage structure.
Ceballos began his career at Betis and has publicly shared his wish to return to his boyhood club. He has faced limited playing time under manager Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid and is eager to play regularly in Seville.

Betis, however, is avoiding complicated negotiations this window. They are currently prioritizing finding replacements for William Carvalho and Johnny Cardoso, whose expected departures will create squad space and lower wage costs.
Ceballos remains under contract with Real Madrid until 2027. While his desire to return is known, the move needs Madrid’s agreement to a free transfer and Ceballos accepting a large salary reduction. For now, a return is not a close possibility, though the door might open later in the transfer window if circumstances change.
