Former star confident Alonso can build Winning Real Madrid team

Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale, the former Real Madrid star, has offered insights into his life after retiring from football in 2022 at age 33. He also discussed his thoughts on the club’s current state and backed former teammate Xabi Alonso for future success.

Bale is now working with DAZN, providing coverage of the Club World Cup. He shared that he does not miss playing professionally and is enjoying his current life. While not a full-time commentator, he likes giving his perspective on major games, such as big Champions League finals or matches like PSG versus Real Madrid. It feels good to be involved in football again after being away for a few years.

Commenting on Real Madrid’s recent 0-4 loss to PSG in the Club World Cup semi-final, Bale felt early mistakes proved costly. Getting behind by two goals early against a top opponent forces teams to take risks, making the situation tougher. He added that whether you lose 4-0 or 1-0 in a knockout game, the result is the same – you are eliminated.

Despite the defeat, Bale believes Real Madrid can always return to greatness and is confident in Xabi Alonso, who recently took charge. Having played with Alonso for a season at the Santiago Bernabeu, Bale sees him as someone truly dedicated to the sport.

He noted Alonso’s passion and work at Leverkusen and is sure he will succeed at Madrid given time to build a winning side. His challenge now is integrating the star players effectively. Bale remains a fan and hopes to see the club win more trophies next season.
